Hi, my name is Siarra and I’m addicted to sugar.
And yes, my addiction can get me into trouble when left unchecked. Living and enjoying Charleston, SC tends to tempt my addiction. Especially when this city is filled with an unfathomable amount of sweets, cakes, bakeries, and for our reviewing pleasure: COOKIES! So strap in, this is King Street Cookies review…
WARNING: I’ve been here more than once. These cookies, they have a hold on me I can’t describe. And like any good lover, I just can’t stay away…
This cute little cookie shop is located on the famous King Street–along with pretty much every other IT place in Charleston, right?–next to Chipotle and across the street from Subway. Truthfully, other than room service, King Street Cookies holds the honor of the first place I ever bit into when I first visited Charleston.
perhaps, this is why I’m so fond of it? loyalty? you never forget your first?
I’ll be the first to admit, cookies are my weakness, my forbidden fruit, the one food that tempts me past my control (nearly) every single time. So I love this little shop. Why? The variety! I’m a sucker for creative cookies, moving away from oatmeal, chocolate chip, and sugar. But don’t worry, for the traditionalist, they have your flavors.
For those who like to walk on the wild side…King Street also has Turtle Chip, Salted Caramel, or Choco Choco Chunk. Just to name a few. They also have seasonal favorites and even gluten-free cookies!
They have specials and deals as well–what good company wouldn’t tempt the addicts further right? lol… They have a “buy a dozen and get one free” special that I took advantage of my very first visit. Sigh…I know, I know. But I meant it when I said I LOVE cookies. Soft-warm-fresh-from-the-oven cookies. Sweet-singing-delicacies-into-my-ear cookies.
Also, the cookie shop is in the middle of College country, so Charleston College’s finest tend to work inside. All the better! I adore the youth and bright smiles every time I enter. Have yet to have one bad customer service experience, even when control won and I walked out empty-handed.
Um, YUM! Like, moment of silence YUM. Like, stop-in-your-tracks-and-wonder-how-you-lived-before-this YUM. Or maybe that’s what cookie addicts say. My favorites were Strawberry Fields and Mango. The latter has a taste that literally explodes in your mouth. Seriously, I jolted when the taste first touched my tongue.
Go. Here. Today, tomorrow, yesterday. Just find a way. Yes, Charleston has many other bakeries in town (and I’ll be sure to review them for you!) but if you’re wandering King Street, stop inside between shopping and selfies and get a cookie (or 7). You’ll thank me later.
